City officials in Leeds are taking the next step in what is widely believed to be a major boon to growth in the area.The council has given its okay on investing in the Grand River Development proposed by Daniel Corp. that could bring retail, housing, lodging and restaurants to the area near Barber Motorsports and Bass Pro Shops.
While we can readily see the benefits of such a project and such an investment, we are concerned about the lack of access to the same information by all members of the council.
This project is too important to be excluded from the usual scrutiny such proposals should face. Its impact will be far reaching, and all officials should be able to vote on a final measure with confidence that their homework has been diligently done.
