It was more than the symbolic turning of a shovelful of dirt when officials broke ground on the new middle school in Leeds.It was sign of a relatively new city school system moving toward the future with vision. And it signals the progress that lies ahead.
Since becoming a school system in 2004, Leeds City Schools have been making strides, especially in the area of facilities. A new high school is also under construction.
“It took a lot of people a lot of hours to get where we are today,” said Jack Courson, chairman of the Public Education Building Authority. “We have every right to be proud of ourselves.”
As new schools go up and improvements inside and outside the classroom continue, we couldn’t agree more.
