As St. Clair County moves closer to a new hospital, the momentum was accentuated by the Eastern Health Foundation Gala making a first of its kind choice this past Friday. The event held annually raises funds for a number of outreach and endowment programs for the hospital system and is traditionally held in Birmingham.
This year, it decided to move the event to the Pell City Center for Education and the Performing Arts, and funds raised were designated for construction of a new hospital for St. Vincents St. Clair.
Hospital officials estimated that $70,000 would be raised from the event, and it will aid construction efforts.
But it was more than a chance to raise money, it was an opportunity to feature the Pell City Center with visitors seeing what the city and county have to offer.
With plans and negotiations ongoing for the new hospital, the Gala underscored the hospital system’s commitment to St. Clair County.
And all should be proud of its landmark hosting of this event.
