JUNIOR BARKER

CROPWELL — Funeral service for Junior Barker, 75, was Monday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Coosa Valley Baptist Church. Interment was in Coosa Valley Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Barker died Friday, June 20, 2008. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Scott Barker and Gary Ray Barker; and one great-grandchild, Doyle Riley Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Jane Barker; sons, Danny (Ann) Barker and Tony (Kaye) Lane; daughters, Debbie (Shawn) Skellet, Melissa "Missy" Baker Higginbotham (Woody Higginbotham), Tammy Lynn (Craig) Weeks and Nelda Hanson; brother, Aubry Wayne Barker; sisters, Brenda Cruise, Ann Gulledge and Peggy Garett; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Kilgroe Funeral Home, Pell City directed the service.

THURMAN (BO) CRADDOCK

LINCOLN — Thurman (Bo) Craddock, age 63, passed away May 6, 2008 at Talladega Quality Health Care. Mr. Craddock was born in Leeds and lived there most of his life, the last few years he lived in Lincoln. He was a roofer by trade and roofed many homes in the Leeds and Moody area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jo Greager Craddock, who passed away Feb. 21, 2003; his parents, Ida Lee and T.M. Craddock; and a brother-in-law, Charles J. Vickers. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Vickers of Leeds and Willadean (Bitt) McLaughlin of Moody; three brothers, Arlis (Connie) Craddock of South Carolina, Carl (Geraldine) Craddock of Tennessee and Joe (Becky) Craddock of Alabaster; and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his best friend, his dog, Fangs. Thurman chose to be an Anatomical Donor at UAB in Birmingham in the hope of helping others.

PAUL DEE CREEL

ODENVILLE — Paul Dee Creel, age 66, died June 21, 2008. He is survived by his sisters, Geneva Manning, Peggy Howard (Virgil) and Teresa Carter; brother, Larry Creel; and a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services were Tuesday, June 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hoover. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directed.

JEWELL BARKER HOPKINS

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Jewell Barker Hopkins, 75, were Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel, Pell City. the Rev. Paul Brasher officiated. Interment was in Valley Hill Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Hopkins passed away June 17, 2008. She was preceded in death by her father, James Barker; her mother, Stella Barker; her brothers, James Barker, Rayborn Barker, Jerome Barker, Charles "Buddy" Barker; and her sisters, Virginia Kling and Faye Merritt. She was the co-owner of BJ Produce in Pell City for 20 years and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hopkins; two daughters, Faye (Keith) Moritz and Kay Covey; son, Billy (Anne) Hopkins; brother, Tommy Barker; two sisters, Geraldine Murphree and Jeanette Wilson; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and 37 foster children. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the services.

DOROTHY LEE SKINNER

ORLANDO, FL — Dorothy Lee Skinner, age 83, died Thursday, June 19, 2008. Mrs. Skinner was a member of the Eastern Star and of Lakewood Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, George Donald Skinner Jr.; sister, Pauline Corbin; brothers, James G. Kyser and Jerry P. Kyser; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds Chapel, with burial at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Trussville. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directed.

JOETTE R. SOUTHERN

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Mrs. Joette R. Southern, 74, were Thursday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Chapel, Pell City. the Rev. Bill Rutledge and the Rev. Randy Hagan officiated. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Southern passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 in Pell City. She was a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church, the Red Hat Society and was an avid gardener. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Southern. She is survived by her husband, Edward R. (Ed) Southern; daughter, Terry Ann (Ed) Tyler of Pell City; son, Mike (Beverly) Southern of Birmingham; mother, Una Robertson Teague of Pell City; grandsons, Hunter Southern of Birmingham, Neill (Lisa) Tyler of Birmingham; great grandsons, Bailey, Drew and Cason Tyler of Birmingham; and sister, Carolyn Drummonds of Pell City.

Pallbearers were Allan Haynes, Carvies Welch, Neill Tyler, Larry Daughtery, Jerry Hart and David Carroll. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Corey O'Neal. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.
