If the house sells for what they are expecting it to, latest charity home built by Curtis White Companies could mean big money for the Leeds Educational Foundation to support the Leeds School System.

The profit from the sale that would normally go to the builder, in this case the asking price is $295,000 — more than a quarter of a million dollars, will instead be donated to the Leeds Educational Foundation thanks to donations from many of the companies and workers involved in the construction of the house.

Katie White, who handles new construction for Curtis White Companies, said most of the vendors and workers, including 50 subcontractors involved in the project, donated material and time to keep the costs of the 2,200-square-foot house down to further benefit the foundation.

White also said no detail was ignored in the construction of the home.

“I told my dad [Joe White] we didn’t need to demand too much because it was for charity, but he insisted we get the best,” she said. “We have some of the nicest stuff in this house. I just got to pick out what I wanted to go in there. It turned out beautiful, in my opinion.”

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom house is being featured in the Greater Birmingham Builders Parade of Home and received the Presidential Choice award. It has been open to visitors the past two weekends.

The house will also be open for visitors this weekend, including ladies’ day giveaways and makeup tips Saturday, May 10.

While this is not the first charity home the company has worked on, it is the first home that will benefit Leeds schools.

The first home Curtis White Companies donated was a handicapped-accessible home in Moody that benefited the Miracle League.

The new charity home, which Curtis White Companies has nicknamed the School House, is located just off U.S. 119 at 6985 Briarwood Lane.
