Although Trussville City Council has been working to amend its town home zoning classifications, the council has decided to carry over discussion of the issue until its Tuesday, May 13 meeting.Brooks Crossing, a subdivision developing along U.S. 11, includes plans for 52 town homes as part of the residential area of the development.
The plans for the town homes in Brooks Crossing exceeded the city’s current specifications for town homes, and the council has been working to amend its ordinance to reflect changes in the city’s requirements to meet the standards in Brooks Crossing.
The council held a public hearing concerning the amendment, but decided to allow another month for input from people who attended the meeting that night or anyone on the council who might have some ideas before the ordinance is approved.
The council also awarded a bid to Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation for his offer of $28,382.18 to provide a utility vehicle and pin mounted sprayer for the Parks and Recreation Department’s use.
The council also:
o Approved its consent agenda.
O Approved an alcohol license for the Plaza Downs Chevron owner, Michael Gunter Enterprises.
O Approved a contract with Jefferson County for election equipment and services.
O Approved submitting to the Department of Justice for voting rights approval in newly annexed areas of the city.
